The Beat

Sports and dance collide to create steps, routines and choreography that truly celebrate our Nation’s hosting of the London 2012 Games.

The Beat Project is one of the outstanding projects granted the London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme, which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said: ’The Beat’ is encouraging young people to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as Dance Offensive we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in sports and dance.

It is an inclusive performance project looking at ways of engaging all young people in dance through sport that offers a unique opportunity for schools’ dance, music and sports departments to interact.

It is a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate online dance programme that will guide and support you towards creating a dance piece to be performed as a part of the region’s 2012 Games celebrations.
