Cambourne Music Festival
This four-day festival took place in 2010 and 2011 and ran for four nights in the Hub, Cambourne. Organised by Cambourne Arts, the festival had a different theme each night. Over the past two years these have included: world music, rock and pop, ceilidh, classical and salsa. Each night offered food along with the entertainment – burgers and rock & pop, chillies & salsa, curry and Indian dancing.
The chair of Cambourne Arts took a lead role gathering together a team of people to help with different aspects of the event. The treasurer took care of fundraising and paying the artists, a local man with an interest in sound engineering helped with equipment aided by some keen young people, a team of people did the cooking and several people stepped forward to help with stewarding in return for free tickets to another event.
In the first year a grant from Awards for All covered many expenses. Cambourne Parish Council offered the free use of the hall and the event was ticketed so some money was generated through door revenue. They ran and a bar at each event and people paid extra for food that made a modest contribution to the overall costs.
